Newsletter - July 2022
MEMBERSHIP
We are very pleased to report that we have had a good membership renewal this year despite the economic climate!
Now that we are in new membership year could we ask that anyone in the Club prepared to volunteer could please let us know – there is a list on the Noticeboard. We would be grateful for any help even if you can only spare a small amount of time spasmodically. There are many tasks both manual and administration.
COMPETITIONS
The Club Championships were very successful and enjoyed by all. Charlie, Shaun, Jack and Nick all worked extremely hard to get the course looking the very best it could with the lack of water!
Several Members have asked if occasionally we could go back to having a fixed start medal with players being mixed. Whilst everyone does like to play with their friends it is also good sometimes to play with new people which takes you out of your comfort zone and also means that you meet different members. If you would be interested in playing this event, on a Saturday occasionally, please put your name down on the noticeboard. This competition would be open to all Members. We are happy to place your usual playing partners in close tee times so that you can still catch up afterwards!
LITTER
We are suffering from:-
Litter being left by the bin rather than in it (even if the bin is empty!) especially banana skins.
Glass bottles being scattered across the course, apart from the time needed to collect these it is also a fire hazard! We do not allow alcohol on the course so there should not be any beer bottles!
Broken tees left on the ground – please pick them up if you see any – again it takes the greenkeepers a long time to collect them before they can mow.
Orange/tangerine skins being dropped on the course.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE USE THE LITTER BINS
BUNKERS
The condition that bunkers are being left in is disgraceful. If you and/or your trolley go into a bunker you must rake behind you..
This is happening when Members are using the course which is particularly disappointing!
SHOE CLEANER
Having purchased a compressor, we now have a shoe cleaner in operation by the workshop doors.
FOOD
Several Members have commented that they would like to be able to access food. Whilst we no longer have the bar restaurant kitchen area we could provide the following:-
If four or more Members would like sandwiches, salads or cakes this can be arranged if prebooked.
Alternatively, we are in the process of working alongside Chilworth Manor with a view to them providing reasonably priced meals for small groups. ie English breakfast, pie and chips, lasagne etc
Please let us know if this is of interest to you.
AMBASSADORS
There is still time to please put your name down for the two the Matches one against Bramshott and one against East Horton.
