Christmas Raffle

On the 1st of January 2024, we made the draw for the Christmas Raffle. The winners were drawn as follows:

Charity

As 2023 has now ended, we have concluded the fund raising to Jane Scarth House. Throughout the year, we have been able to amass a total in excess of £3,100.00 which will be handed over to the Jane Scarth Charity by Ken Smart.

A special thanks to anyone who helped arrange events throughout the year to generate donations. And also, thank you to all those who donated. This amount far exceeds what we were anticipating to bring in.

Cotswolds Trip 2024

After the success of last year’s tour to Dartmouth we will again be organising a Ryder Cup style event. This year we will be going to Cotswolds Golf, Hotel & Spa. Located just north of Oxford it will provide a great venue for the event. The tour will take place from Friday 14th June – Sunday 16th and will include the following:

2 nights bed & breakfast
3 rounds of golf
2 Course Dinner
Bacon Roll on arrival (Day 1)

£280 Per person

Price based on twin rooms (single supplement available: additional £140)

The format will be similar to last year, two teams captained by Mark & Chris battling it out over 3 rounds of Matchplay golf. Last year’s event was won by Europe captained by Mark, so I’m sure Chris will want a strong team to seek revenge.

We have provisionally booked for 20 people however this number can increase if demand is high. We will take bookings on a first come first served basis. If you would like to join us, please enter via the pro shop with your £100 deposit. Full balance will be required 5 weeks prior to the event.

Greenkeeping

It has been mentioned by a few members that people are not repairing their pitch marks. While we appreciate this may not be members who are creating these, it would be greatly appreciated that if you do spot any in the green you fix them. This helps our greenkeepers greatly and also helps maintain the quality of the greens.

January’s 9 Hole Competition

We will be holding another back 9-hole stableford competition this month which will take place this Thursday the 18th of January. For this event you can elect to be allocated a tee time should you wish to play with other players or have no one to play with. However, this is also a rolling competition so can be played throughout the day. This is a qualifying event so this score will go towards your handicap.

Should you wish to take part, please get your name down on the sign-up board. Alternatively, you can come down and sign up on the day.

Winter Eclectics

There is still time to sign up for the winter eclectics. These competitions are held for all members, as well as a separate competition for the ladies and the ambassadors. The closing date to submit a scorecard will be 31st March 2024.
