Greenkeeping

As we begin to move towards the winter months, our greenkeepers remain hard at work to keep the course in peak condition. As a part of this work we will be continuing our maintenance work on the golf course which this month will include top dressing the tee boxes. They continue to do a fantastic job keeping the course in great condition so please do you part by repairing pitch marks and divots as well as raking bunkers.

Winter Rules

With the golf course becoming wetter as we progress through the year, the implementation of winter rules will be on the horizon. While we have no fixed date for this as of yet, we are bearing it in mind and a notice will be released when these rules come into effect.

 Charity Jane Scarth House

In a quest to raise money for Jane Scarth House our Club charity this year, we have been collecting money in exchange for second hand golf clubs. This has come at a great success with a lot of the original clubs now gone. We continue to also receive donations of clubs to add to the ones we already have.

Again, many are either quite old or not in good condition, but they would still be of use for practice on the driving range or practise in the garden. These odd clubs are being sold for donations of £1 or over.

As many of you may already be aware, we were permitted our lottery licence back in September. As a result of this being granted we did start the raffle with it now being well underway. There is still a chance to buy your tickets which can be purchase over the counter. Tickets are £1 each or a strip of 5 for £4.00. The prizes will be:-

1st Prize - Marks and Spencer Voucher £100

2nd Prize - Two lessons with one of the Golf Professionals – (worth £56)

3rd Prize - Selection of golf sundries balls, gloves tees to the value of £35.

THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO BUY A TICKET! The draw will be made this Sunday which is the 8th of November 2023.

Group Lessons

Chris Gosney and Mark Dawe are starting group golf lessons again. These will be categorised as Level 1 – Beginners, Level 2 – Intermediate, Level 3 - Advanced classes and Level 4 – Specific Areas to improve, i.e. chipping, putting, long irons, short irons etc.

COST - £55 (which includes the cost of the balls) 4 x 1 hour group lessons (maximum of 6 per group).

Sign-up sheets are at the counter, payment when you book in, please.

We hope that during the autumn and winter months you can benefit from having some lessons (perhaps with friends) ready to start the new season, having got rid of any bad habits.

This year’s AGM is due to be held on 23rd of November 2023 at 12pm. All members are welcome.
